📜 Historical Roots

Varanasi appears in the earliest Vedic texts as Kashi, the city of light, and in Buddhist records as the city near the Buddha first sermon at Sarnath. The city continued as an unbroken centre of Sanskrit scholarship, Shaiva devotion, music, weaving and the learning traditions that make it the civilisational heartbeat of Bharat.

🌿 Seasonal Context

Maha Shivaratri (February-March) is Varanasi most sacred night. Dev Deepawali (Kartik Purnima, November) when 80 ghats are illuminated with a million lamps reflected in the Ganga is the most visually spectacular event. The Ganga Aarti is performed daily at sunset.
