Ayodhya is the holiest city of the Vaishnava world and the birthplace of Shri Ram, one of the most sacred addresses in all of Bharat. The consecration of the Ram Mandir (Ram Lalla temple) at the Ram Janmabhoomi on 22 January 2024 marked one of the most significant moments in modern Bharat. Ayodhya is one of the seven moksha-granting cities (Sapta Puri) and the Ramayana capital, with the Saryu river whose ghats carry millennia of pilgrimage memory. The city is undergoing one of the most ambitious transformations of any Indian heritage city as new infrastructure serves the millions of pilgrims drawn to the Ram Mandir.

📜 Historical Roots

Ayodhya (the unconquerable) is one of the oldest cities of Bharat, the Ramayana capital of Maharaja Dasharatha and birthplace of Shri Ram. The city sacred geography, maintained across thousands of years through the devotion of the Vaishnava tradition, preserves the memory of the divine king whose life story, the Valmiki Ramayana and its countless retellings, has shaped the moral and spiritual imagination of Bharat and Southeast Asia for three millennia.

Ram Navami (March-April), the birthday of Shri Ram, draws millions of pilgrims. Diwali, celebrated as the return of Ram from Lanka, sees the Saryu ghats lit with hundreds of thousands of diyas in one of Bharat most spectacular river illuminations. The Ram Mandir now draws pilgrims year-round.
