Anand is one of the most economically transformative cities in Bharat, the home of Amul, the dairy cooperative that pioneered the White Revolution and made Bharat the world's largest milk producer. The National Dairy Development Board and the Amul cooperative model originated here under the visionary leadership of Tribhuvandas Patel and Verghese Kurien, whose work transformed the lives of millions of dairy farmers across Bharat. 📜 Historical Roots

The Amul cooperative was founded in 1946 under Tribhuvandas Patel's leadership to free dairy farmers from the exploitation of middlemen. When Verghese Kurien joined in 1949, he transformed a local cooperative into a national model. Operation Flood (1970-1996), replicating the Amul model across Bharat, made the country self-sufficient in milk and created the world's largest dairy industry. Kurien, known as the Milkman of India, is one of the great agricultural development visionaries of the 20th century.

Anand's dairy cooperative economy operates year-round with seasonal peaks in milk production during the cooler months (October-March) when fodder is most abundant. Navratri (September-October) is the major community festival. Uttarayan (January) kite festival is observed enthusiastically. The Amul Dairy visitor facility draws educational tourism throughout the year.
