📜 Historical Roots

Girangaon — the village of mills — was the site of Bharat's great labour movements in the 20th century. The textile mill workers of Parel and Lalbaug, organised through the mill unions, fought for workers' rights and shaped the political consciousness of Maharashtra. The great mill strike of 1982 and its aftermath fundamentally changed Mumbai's urban landscape.
