The Melghat Tiger Reserve is open October-June — best wildlife viewing in the summer months (March-May) when animals gather at water sources. The monsoon (June-September) closes the forest to visitors but is when the Satpura hills are at their most dramatically beautiful. The Korku tribal community's harvest festivals run October-November. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in the town. The pleasant October-February season is the most comfortable for visiting this hill district.
