Androth (Andrott) is the largest island of Lakshadweep by area, a coral island in the Arabian Sea closest to the Kerala coast. The island is known for its dense coconut groves, its historic Juma Masjid containing the tomb of Hazrat Ubaidullah (the saint credited with bringing Islam to the islands in the 7th century CE), and its distinction as the only Lakshadweep island oriented east-west rather than north-south.
